The Automations Page in VESYL is where you control and organize the rules that power your shipping workflows. Learning how to adjust automation order, pause or delete rules, and edit conditions ensures your orders flow smoothly without manual intervention.
Automation Execution Order
Automations run from top to bottom on the list.
- The automation at the top executes first.
- Each subsequent automation runs in order unless skipped or paused.
- This hierarchy is important when setting rules like address verification, residential flagging, or service mapping.
Example
- Automation #1: Flag unverified addresses.
- Automation #2: Set Residential/Business flag.
- Automation #3: Apply shipping service based on method.
This order ensures the address is validated before the service is assigned.
Changing the Order of Automations
To reorder:
- Find the two bars (drag handle) next to an automation.
- Drag and drop it to the desired position.
- Confirm placement to ensure the sequence matches your intended workflow.
Managing Automations (Edit, Pause, Delete)
On the right-hand side of the Automations page, you’ll see three icons:
- Pencil (Edit): Modify conditions, actions, or rules. Great for updating logic without recreating an automation.
- Pause (Pause): Temporarily disable an automation. Skipped automations will not apply until resumed. Useful for testing new workflows.
- Trash Can (Delete): Permanently remove an automation. Use this if the rule is no longer needed.
Best Practices for Automations Management
- Test with Specific Orders: Use the “Run Automations” feature on selected orders to confirm changes before applying across all.
- Run Foundational Rules First: Address validation and residential flags should come before rate-shopping or service mapping.
- Keep Automations Clean: Too many overlapping automations can create conflicts. Regularly audit and simplify rules.
- Use Pausing Wisely: Pause instead of deleting when experimenting—this allows easy rollback if needed.
Why This Matters
The Automations Page is essentially your workflow engine in VESYL. By setting the correct sequence and maintaining clean rules, you save time, reduce shipping errors, and ensure your team follows consistent processes.
